Trezor Start — Quick Setup & Secure Guide
A clean, step-by-step walkthrough to initialize your Trezor hardware wallet, create backups, and secure your crypto — written as an official-style guide for clarity.
Get started in 5 simple steps
Follow these steps exactly to reduce risk and make sure your device is genuine and secure.
-
Unbox & verify
Inspect your package. Make sure the tamper-evident seals are intact and that the model number matches the purchase. If anything looks off, do not use the device.
-
Connect to Trezor Suite
Open Trezor Suite on your computer (recommended) or use the official start page at
trezor.io/start. Only download software from the official site. -
Initialize device
Choose Create a new wallet on the device. Write down your recovery seed (12/24 words) exactly as shown — on the supplied card. Never store the seed digitally.
-
Set a PIN
Choose a strong PIN on the device. This prevents unauthorized access if your device is lost or stolen. Memorize the PIN; do not write it down near your recovery seed.
-
Test & update
After setup, check your test transaction with a small amount. Keep firmware up to date by verifying updates within the official Suite only.
Security best practices
- Never share your recovery seed. Trezor staff will never ask for it.
- Only use official software and firmware signed by the manufacturer.
- Consider a steel backup for long-term seed storage.
- Keep a small test balance to verify transactions before moving large amounts.
